Rome: Second International Conference on Sustainability Science (ICSS)
Nobel laureate Elinor Ostrom spoke thus in Rome: "Do not wait, act."
Elinor Ostrom, the first woman to have received the Nobel Prize for Economics, is currently head of the Research Center on Diversity Arizona State University .
"Every single person - has continued Ostrom - with its buying patterns, much can be done. Buy thinking about the future and giving attention to the concept of savings, the value of good common sense are elements that can help us build a future of sustainable development. Of course at the political level is essential that a dialogue with the academic world and not be discouraged by setbacks. "
The second International Conference on Sustainability Science (ICSS) was opened by Ostrom, with a clear and strong message that highlights one of the main objectives: the implementation of an interdisciplinary dialogue between different sciences in order to spread more and more consciousness of sustainability. The American economist
continues by invoking a "contamination of knowledge," suggesting clear and shared concrete actions, not forgetting the critical sense, "by applying corrective processes for past mistakes."
The Conference was organized by Interuniversity Research Centre for Sustainable Development of the Sapienza University of Rome (CIRPS) .
CIRPS is a reality across the academic research, whose work is aimed at disseminating scientific knowledge, the preparation projects and research approaches in social work and which have as their goal of sustainable development. Since 1998, the
CIRPS is part of a group of universities and research institutes worldwide, engaged in the advancement of Science of Sustainability. CIRPS wants to encourage the sharing of wealth worldwide , without that damage the environment, some social group or future generations.
